Brief History

Jawzjan University, located in Jawzjan Province, was established in 1987 (1366 Solar Hijri) in response to the urgent needs of society and through the efforts and dedication of intellectuals and education enthusiasts. It was initially founded under the name of the Higher Institute of Teacher Education.

Following its development and elevation to the level of higher education institutions, it operated through two separate institutions under the following names: Mirza Ulugh Beg Institute of Mines and Industries and Mir Ali Shir Nawai Pedagogical Institute. Since 1994 (1373 Solar Hijri), these institutions officially operated with the aim of training young engineers and professional teachers at the bachelor's degree level.

In February–March 2002 (Hoot 1380 Solar Hijri), based on the decision of the Ministry of Higher Education, the two institutes were merged and continued their activities under a unified name, administration, and leadership as the Jawzjan Institute of Higher Education until 2008 (1387 Solar Hijri).

Through the continuation of academic, teaching, and research activities, the enhancement of the capacities of academic staff members, the expansion of infrastructure, and the joint efforts of the university leadership and all its personnel, the institution was elevated to the status of Jawzjan University in 2008 (1387 Solar Hijri).
